JourneyWoman June 2026 Magazine: Where to Stay: Unique Accommodations for Women

Dear Reader,

After finishing my 400 km walk on Spain’s northern Camino, I will admit to feeling both joy and sadness. Joy that I was able to complete this incredible trek, and sadness that it’s over! That month away feels like a gift. The opportunity to walk in silence, see the ocean and get so connected to my body and nature was incredibly meaningful.

In the end, it wasn’t just about getting to Santiago, it was about the journey itself. There is no question in my mind that any woman can do the Camino, in her own way, with the right mindset. Even with gruelling days, sore feet and unpredictable weather, this Camino was one of the happiest times of my life. Walking on a less-travelled route along Spain’s stunning northern coast has been a dream I've had for several years.

In this issue of JourneyWoman Magazine, we are turning our attention to the fine art of finding a place to stay. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than being at a hotel that doesn’t meet your expectations — be it safety, comfort, value for money or location. We want to make it easier for you to find a place to stay, so we have expanded our Women’s Travel Directory to include hotels recommended by women, hotel reviews written by our well-travelled writers and featured properties that we have vetted for you.

IMAGINE what we could create together if every single person reading this letter recommended just ONE hotel, hostel, monastery, or albergue they loved. By doing so, you can help make another woman’s travel safer, more affordable and more meaningful.
