Dear Reader, There are so many ways that we as women, can support each other. At JourneyWoman, we aspire to shine a light on women in everything we do - our editorial, our events and our special programs - and amplify the voices of mature women in travel. Three years ago, in 2021, we introduced the JourneyWoman Award in honour of the late Evelyn Hannon, the founder of JourneyWoman. This award recognizes a woman in the travel industry who has dedicated her professional life to empowering women in travel. Winners to date have included: Rue Mapp, founder and CEO of national not-for-profit organization Outdoor Afro, whose mission celebrates and inspires Black connections and leadership in nature, in 2023; Anna Pollock, Founder, Conscious Travel, an acclaimed thought leader and pioneer in regenerative tourism, in 2022; and Alessandra Alonso, founder of Women in Travel CIC, a social enterprise that seeks to empower women using travel and tourism as a force for good, in 2021. The year 2024 is special because it’s JourneyWoman’s 30th anniversary! The Award will be presented by JourneyWoman CEO Carolyn Ray at the Women in Travel Summit in April 2024 in Utah. We need your help nominating a woman over 50. Please send in your nominations by August 15, 2023. You can do that here. Join us at an Upcoming Event July 27, 12 pm EST: What's next in solo travel? Dear Reader, After finishing my 400 km walk on Spain’s northern Camino, I will admit to feeling both joy and sadness. Joy that I was able to complete this incredible trek, and sadness that it’s over! In the end, it wasn’t just about getting to Santiago, it was about the journey itself. There is no question in my mind that any woman can do...
